Rebecca is the name of the second wife of Peter Hipes. She apparently was
previously married to a man named Leighton because Peter's will refers to a
daughter of Rebecca's named Elizabeth Leighton. The name of the first wife of
Peter is not known. The Census of 1850 of Botetourt County ppage 258 lists
Rebecca as age 40 and her place of birth as Virginia. It also lists her
daughter Elizabeth as age 17 and under the column of Deaf, Blind, Insane, etc.
